Festa del Tossino
Held in Albelda since 1987, the Festa del Tossino is a lively popular celebration recreating the traditional pig slaughter (matanza del cerdo), complete with handcrafted preparation of mondongo and other pork products. Visitors dressed in traditional attire gather from early morning to enjoy local gastronomy, craft stalls, and music, making it one of the most authentic winter festivals in the province of Huesca.
Festivities of San Blas and Santa Águeda
The festivities of San Blas and Santa Agueda in Fonz run for several days in early February, blending religious devotion with community celebration. The programme includes Eucharist services, a procession honoring San Blas on February 3rd, traditional bonfires (fogueres), theatrical performances at L'Urmo, and evening dances, keeping centuries-old Pyrenean traditions alive in this small Huesca village.
Crespillo Festival
Declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in Aragon, the Crespillo Festival in Barbastro takes place on the Sunday closest to March 25th (the feast of the Annunciation) in the Plaza del Mercado. The centrepiece is a free public tasting of crespillos, a traditional sweet made from borage leaves battered in egg dough and fried, rooted in an ancient fertility rite marking the farewell to winter. Day of the Faldeta
The Day of the Faldeta is an annual celebration in Fraga, Huesca, honouring the town's distinctive traditional women's costume: seven layered skirts (faldetes) paired with a corset, jubón bodice, and mantilla. Ruta de los Penitentes
The Ruta de los Penitentes is a pioneering FIM-endorsed mototurismo endurance event based in Banos de Panticosa, Huesca. The 2026 edition covers approximately 1,100 kilometres through the Pyrenees over two stages, including a 300 km prologue and an 800 km special stage crossing more than 20 mountain passes, attracting riders from across Europe who navigate the route using a traditional roadbook.
First Friday of May Festival
On the first Friday of May, Jaca commemorates the legendary Battle of 758 AD in which Count Aznar Galindez and the townspeople defeated a Moorish army at the city gates. Thousands of participants in medieval costumes fill the streets for a grand historical reenactment featuring cavalry charges, jousting, mock combat, and a festive procession, making it one of the most spectacular heritage events in the Aragonese Pyrenees.
Huesca International Film Festival
The Huesca International Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cine de Huesca) is one of the world's oldest competitive short film festivals, held annually each June. Now in its 54th edition, it is an Oscar-qualifying event and serves as a key platform for emerging filmmakers from the Ibero-American world and beyond. Pirineos Sur is an international music and arts festival held annually on a unique floating stage on the Lanuza reservoir in the Pyrenees. Día de la Longaniza
The Día de la Longaniza is a popular food festival in Graus, Huesca, celebrating the town's famous longaniza sausage.
